We sing about grace in songs like “Grace Alone”, “God of Grace and God of Glory”, and “Amazing Grace”.

We say grace at meals.

But do we know how powerful, boundless, and unlimited that grace really is, or have we taken it for granted?

God is the universe’s greatest Lover pursuing God’s beloved creation to the ends of earth. And so the Psalmist asks us where can he really flee from God’s presence. There is no place too far or too dark where God can’t find us (Psalm 139). St. Augustine once wrote that God made us for himself and in such a way that there is restlessness in our heart to find our Lover.

We might sum up grace this way: “God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself.” And God was not keeping score of our sins (2 Cor. 5:19 NIV).
